1.     Job Purpose

 

·       Leading and developing an effective team of engineers, technical leads, technical specialists and interns to deliver leading research and services in the given work theme.

·       Responsibility for delivering of a portfolio of industry led projects and programs

·       Taking responsibility for the financial sustainability of the team

·       Represent HSSMI with external partners and organisation

·       Working with the executive team to ensure a high standard process for project integrity and quality.

 

2.      Principal Accountabilities             
·       Develop and implement a strategy for the team to deliver the business plan for the region

·       Generate income from research projects to ensure financial sustainability of the team

·       Ensure processes for high-quality delivery of your team’s projects – both research and commercial and generate revenue for the team

·       Keeping up to date and delivering projects and assigned tasks to budget, quality and time.  Ensure high net profit targets for the team

·       Line manage a team of engineers, technical leads, technical specialists, engineers and interns

·       Working with HSSMI’s clients and stakeholders to define requirements on projects

·       Leading customer workshops and develop new concept studies;

·       Lead the development of research proposals, contributing to consortium building

·       Confidently present new ideas and concepts to stakeholders or to the wider public

·       The role may require you to work at our customers’ premises

 

 

3. Knowledge & Experience Essential/Desirable
·       Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline or relevant industrial experience. E
·       Practical experience of working in manufacturing D
·       Confident in planning and organising work to meet timed deliverables E
·       Excellent communication skills – written, verbal listening and presentation E
·       Can work independently and in team environments E
·       A flexible approach to cope with frequent change E
·       A high level of motivation, initiative and creativity

·       Knowledge of productivity and process planning;

·       Experience working as a consultant on commercially focused projects

·       Knowledge of Project Management best practices

·       Experience in managing R&D and innovation projects on time, to budget and to a high quality level

Technical knowledge and experience:

·       Experience in writing project proposals and business cases related to manufacturing and supply chain development

·       Understanding of Systems thinking and Engineering

·       Ability to deliver Strategy development and roadmapping sessions

·       Experience of consulting in Technical capacity on Manufacturing based projects

·       Familiarity with Digital Manufacturing / Industry 4.0 technologies and applications

·       Experience in conducting Techno Economic modelling & Assessments

·       Knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering principles – Process planning, Automation, Lean manufacturing, Operational excellence, CAD/CAM tools, etc.

·       Knowledge of future manufacturing concepts – Circular Economy, Redistributed Manufacturing, Additive Manufacturing
