1.     Job Purpose
HSSMI are seeking to expand their commercial team with the recruitment of a dynamic and forward-thinking Commercialisation Coordinator to support our R&D teams to develop their ideas, technologies and innovations, turning these into opportunities of value attractive to industry. The Commercial Coordinator will work alongside the Commercial and Engineering Directors to develop a portfolio of opportunities, with support from the sales and technical teams, to identify and commercialise knowhow and intellectual property in line with HSSMI’s mission, vision and overall commercial strategy.

 

2.       Principal Accountabilities             
·       Support and coordinate a variety of opportunities coming from research projects, from initial idea through to successful commercialisation

·       To liaise with the technical teams to commercialise research outputs, create new offerings and develop new areas of technological expertise

·      Help to manage the identification, evaluation and potential translation of particular ideas, and technologies developed through research

·       Work across all regions to manage commercialisation and translation of Intellectual Property (IP), achieving commercialisation objectives and deliverables in line with the commercial strategy whilst coordinating effective IP protection

·       Support in the development and implementation of exploitation plans for all research projects

·       Supporting the decision-making process along the project lifespan, focussing on the commercial opportunity, potential economic and societal impact, and the appropriate resources required

·       Maintain and update current asset logs for IP, knowhow and idea generation

·      Establish exploitation plans and supporting governance for each research project

·      Build and maintain good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders including Technical, Sales and Marketing teams

·      Develop an in-depth knowledge of research projects and outputs across the business, identifying potential opportunities for the translation of these outputs

·      To maintain a close relationship with the marketing team to facilitate initial conversations on campaigns related to offerings in response to market drivers

·       To liaise with the sales team to gather market research and intelligence to drive new offerings

·       To suggest areas for lead generation for the sales team based on market knowledge

·       To create and maintain competitor portfolios for new ideas and update the sales and marketing teams on areas of risk and opportunity created by competitor activities

·       Deliver significant market analysis reports to understand size, dynamic and segmentation for potential new ideas

 

 

4. Knowledge & Experience Essential/Desirable
·        Professional skills and knowledge of research translation, commercialisation and market research

·        Demonstrable success in negotiating commercial and legal arrangements for research translation

·        A degree or demonstrable experience in a relative subject area

·        Demonstrable skills in building internal networks in relation to research translation and commercialisation of intellectual property

·        Ability to prioritise and manage multiple conflicting workloads, and efficiently manage multiple requests for information and assistance and to work under pressure of various deadlines.

·        High level of interpersonal communication including the ability to consult with senior executives in a complex, collaborative organisation.
